| Dr. Gitter is a nephrologist who provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of kidney disease, from early-stage conditions to advanced kidney failure and transplantation. His clinical interests include kidney transplantation, home dialysis, hypertension, chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease, and kidney stone management. His approach to care is thoughtful, thorough, practical, and evidence-based, with a strong emphasis on patient-centered decision-making. He holds high expectations for both himself and his patients and works collaboratively to support long-term kidney health. Dr. Gitter has been part of Kidney Specialists of Minnesota since 2003.
Dr. Gitter has held several leadership and professional roles throughout his career, including serving as Allina Transplant Medical Director and co-founding National Kidney Foundation/Donate Life Night at the Twins. He has received multiple honors for his leadership and community service, including the John Najarian Friends of the National Kidney Foundation Award for Outstanding Service to the Community, as well as repeated recognition as a Top Doctor by Minnesota Monthly and Minneapolis–St. Paul Magazine. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Gitter lives in Mendota Heights and is married with two adult children. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, scuba diving, mountain biking, road cycling, exploring national parks, and relaxing at the cabin. He is also an avid sports fan, following the Twins, Wild, Packers, and Badgers. |
