Kidney Specialists of Minnesota (KSM) has been an independent, physician-owned nephrology practice for more than 40 years. Founded in 1978 by Dr. Richard Sweet and later joined by Dr. David Brown and Dr. Frank Tycast, the practice has grown from a single clinic into a leading regional kidney care organization.
Our physicians and multidisciplinary care teams provide care in clinics, hospitals, and dialysis units across Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with many serving as medical directors. In 2008, KSM partnered with Minneapolis Radiology to open the Minnesota Vascular Surgery Center, expanding access to vascular services in the Twin Cities.
Since 2015, KSM has been an early adopter of value-based care programs. Throughout our history, we’ve remained committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered kidney care as a trusted, independent practice.
