Dr. Canas is a nephrologist who provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of kidney disease, from outpatient management to complex inpatient and critical care. He has a clinical focus in ICU nephrology, caring for patients with acute and highly complex kidney conditions.
His approach to care is thorough, thoughtful, and compassionate, with an emphasis on listening carefully and ensuring patients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout their treatment. He has been part of Kidney Specialists of Minnesota since 2004.
Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dr. Canas now lives in the Twin Cities with his wife, Shannon, and their four children. Outside of work, he enjoys physical fitness, bodybuilding, and exploring alternative medicine
